Workshops - 2: Clap Touch

Clap once and do the same thing with the shoulders, then the back, the knees and feet.
Clap seven times with a silent eighth count: / / / / / / / ? to set the tempo for the repeat. Repeat with a gentle pulse , saying "clap" when you clap; "head" when you touch the head etc.

Useful variations
a)When working with a group whose common language is different from the workshop leaders', allow the children to teach the workshop
leader the names of body parts in their own language.
b) Do the whole exercise in slow motion, with the words also "in slow motion" as if a tape recorder has gone wrong.
c) Do something loud and silly in between each body part
d) Get faster and faster until it becomes impossible
Especially suitable for:
Groups with a mix of languages or no common language
Groups with a wide ethnic mix (who are likely to know words like "head" in their grandparents' native language)
Integrated groups: different heights due to age, use of wheelchairs etc., make the shape of the circle more interesting
Less suitable for:
Wildly hormonal adolescents with challenging behaviour.
